Skencil 1.0alpha: project revitalization

Posted by igor | Posted in Release | Posted on 31-10-2010

sK1 Project has been started 7 years ago as a Skencil fork. Unfortunately 5 years ago Skencil development has been freezed. Almost all distros have excluded Skencil packages because it is not possible to compile correctly the project code against tk8.5/8.6

Working Skencil is important for further sK1 development. Also some users have asked for Skencil revitalizing. Therefore we have backported a lot of fixes from sK1. Details and Scencil packages you can find follow link.

hi, Im using it on Ubuntu 10.10, however, is the text tool broken?

Well, it is bit out-of date without visible keybinding help like inkscape, not easy to get into it.

Skencil font system is not perfect. This issue should be fixed before final release 1.0alpha.

Concerning Inkscape keybindings in tooltips, well, this feature was implemented one month ago only Smile I think we can do it after porting on Gtk engine.

Nice. I have been looking through the Skencil code and trying to port some of it (esp. the mask tool) to sK1.

Thanks to the sK1 for all their hard work. Keep it up!Grin
